The Riverside is a 26 unit project located in Hood River, Oregon dedicated entirely to the farm worker population.
Project started construction in July, 1996 and was complete December, 1996. Rents are very low at $340 for a two bedroom and $420 for a three bedroom unit. Apartments are income restricted for workers earning 50% median income or less.
The project was financed using grants, Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Oregon Lender Tax Credits (which allow a 4% reduction in interest rates in exchange for an equal value of tax credits to the lender), farm worker state tax credits and federal funds.
Because of the City's commitment to agriculture as an economic development strategy, appropriate and affordable housing has been identified as an unmet need. The Riverside project will assist in meeting this need.
